This issue is huge in the UK and politicians have been reluctant to address the issues involved fully. Meanwhile our children are suffering. I have personal experience of this being a father trying everything I can to stay in contact with my children. Working with or against the Family Court System make it almost impossible to gain headway. Our children are innocent when a relationship breaksdown but it’s unfortunately a fact of life. However, in light of this we should not be holding our children in front of us and using them as pawns or weapons. I believe the only way to stop this is through first of all declaring parents as equals in the eyes of the law.
What we need and how you can help
We need help to fund our next leg of this campaign. It’s a known fact that 60% of relationships in Britain fail, it’s a fact that there are nearly three million children living without the influence of a father in Britain. The chances are that it happened to you or it happened to a family member or a close friend. So this issue effects us all. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, and of course our children. Who are innocent.
We want to ride to Australia overland. Starting in Manchester and finishing 12 months later in Brisbane. To do this we need help with living expenses and fuel costs. In the event of breakdowns help with maintaining our BMW motorcycle.
We intend travelling overland where possible though Europe, Asia, Malaysia and Indonesia. The trip will start early in 2015 and be completed in early 2016.
We are planning well ahead to make sure we give ourselves the best possible chance of completing our mission and allowing ourselves enough time to make the best of raising awareness of this important cause.
We need an estimated 12,000 Euros to help to prepare our BMW R1100 GS and to maintain our trip over the 12 months.
There are of course other ways in which you can help.
Firstly in kind. If you don’t think a cash donation is right for you but you can offer some other form of sponsorship, maybe in equipment etc then it would be gratefully accepted.
Secondly in your personal promotion. Be passing on your details to others who might be able to help us.
Thirdly and most importantly. By reading about these issues and making them an issue amongst your friends and family. Remembering that the reason for our trip is to highlight children and their suffering when they lose a parent in this way.
You will make a difference.
Have you ever thought that you would like to help make a change but felt helpless or too small to influence anything. I think it’s a common feeling these days. If enough people do something small it adds up to something big and that’s when things happen. That is why I do what I do. It feels small but I know people read my blogs and short essays and if I can reach one person or my children read or hear about one comment I make, it was all worth while.
You could make a difference to a family members life or someone elses family member. It all makes a huge difference.
Our end goal is to raise awareness of the issues and ultimately help change the law in the UK making people equal in our society. After all if men and women are not equal in the eyes of the law what chance do other minorities in our country have?
We intend making short movies of our trip. The ups and downs the fun and the disasters and posting on all online media, Youtube, Facebook and our blogs, and personal emailshots to those who want it. In this way we feel it would give us the best possible chance of reaching a wide audience.
So what do you get out of this trip?
For every donation of $30 Euros we will send you our campaign tee-shirt and campaign sticker.
For every donation $50 Euros we wil update you by email personally with our movie links as they are published and photos plus our tee-shirt and a campaign sticker.
For every small donation you make below $30 Euros regardless of the amount you get our heartfelt thanks by email and a car / motorcycle support sticker.
